The Balancing Act: Power vs. Heat
When we’re designing a lamp, we start with the irradiance—basically, how much punch the light has when it actually hits the ink. If you’re running a fast conveyor line, you need high wattage. It’s great for throughput. You can crank up the speed and move more product. But there’s a catch. High power means high heat. If your cooling isn’t up to the task, you’re looking at warped materials or lamps that burn out way too early. We spend our time tweaking the tube length and wattage so you get that lightning-fast cure without accidentally melting your project.
The Secret is in the Glass
Not all quartz is created equal. The glass we use determines how much UV light actually makes it out of the tube and into your ink. We stick with high-purity fused quartz. Why? Because it doesn’t soak up the UVC and UVB rays that you actually need. Sometimes, we’ll even add specific coatings to the glass. This lets us filter out the “noise” or concentrate the beam so you don’t over-cook the surface while the base layer is still wet.
